About the department

The Faculty, as a separate discipline of academic inquiry was introduced from the very beginning when the institution came into being in 1950 as an intermediate college affiliated to the University of Calcutta. It indicates the popular demand in favour of the discipline at that time and even today it remains a much sought-after discipline amongst the students planning to take up teaching or administration as their future career. The discipline provides the students with a balanced exposure with a brilliant mix of interpretative theoretical frame and sort of current affairs orientation.
