ICT - enabled facilities

Recognising the importance of technology in education, is well-equipped with IT facilities. BGC uses IT to provide a competitive advantage in its core areas of education and research. There are 13 (Fifteen) ICT enabled class rooms and 1 (Two) smart class rooms with high end audio system, Smart T.V. for hassle-free digital education, and fully Wi-Fi enabled campus with high-speed internet facility, for seamless and uninterrupted connectivity.

The IT-facilities of some of the departments includes Computers, Laptops, Printers, Scanners, Projectors, Software programs, Interactive Teaching box, Digital Camera, Photocopier, Pen drives, Android mobile phones for capturing photos, make videos, etc.

The Institute has a robust and vibrant IT policy. The policy aims at providing uninterrupted services to all stakeholders. Viz. faculty, officers, staff and students.

BGC IT infrastructure includes centralised data management system (AIMES Cloud server-based infrastructure), Wi-Fi campus, learning management system through e-contents (Audio, Video and pdf study materials) available at college website, and Online classes via google classroom, google meet, zoom, Jam board etc.

All the academic buildings are completely wi-fi enabled. During the lockdown due to Covid pandemic, classes were held on-line for students across all programmes.

Secured Wi-Fi access(50 MBPS - 250 MBPS), implemented totally on Jio-Fi and local cable network mediated infrastructure, has been provided to all users in the campus and it supports over 2,500 users.

The budget allocation for IT is in line with the existing requirement and foreseeing the future ones. This college being a Government College of the State of West Bengal, for updation of its IT infrastructure, the college is funded by the higher education department of the Govt., which disburses funds and the college authority spends the fund on priority basis for the maintenance, utilization and procurements of IT facilities. For the Academic facilities, it spends money on maintenance of Copier machines, Computers, Laptops and digital equipment’s (Pen drive, Dongle, Wi-fi router, Printers, and Scanners) of different departments. The faculty members of the Institute, dealing with student’s welfare cell, WBHS etc. have been provided with Desktop computers/ laptops with latest configurations.

Youtube Channel

The college has launched its own official Youtube channel, where any number of lectures, webinars, can be uploaded and students can access what is relevant to them.

Google Workspace for Education

The college has recently introduced Google Workspace for Education Fundamentals — a free suite of easy-to-use tools that provide a flexible and secure foundation for learning, collaboration, and communication. The faculties, non-teaching staff and other stake-holders have also been provided with their own Suite mail IDs (academic).

Online Exam Centre

College Online Exam centre has facilities for more than fifty students with excellent infrastructure including internet, power backups and invigilators.
