Career Counseling, Entry in Service and Placement Cell

Career Counseling, Entry in Service and Placement Cell of Barasat Government College is perpetual committee of the college. It provides counseling and expert advises to the students of graduate (UG) and post graduate (PG) courses of all disciplines including the recent alumni. From time to time, it has organized awareness programs in the field of higher education, strategies involved to pass GRE – TOEFL, NET, SET exams to the students of UG and PG courses. Career opportunities to the young graduates are given in the field of banking, UPSC, PSC and various other examinations.

Awareness campaigns such as anti-tobacco, road safety was some of the additional but indispensable programs organized by the Career Counseling and Placement Cell during the pre- Covid-19 era in 2019.

Various job openings are disseminated to the final year and pass out students amid pandemic by the Placement Cell with the help of corresponding Head of the Departments through WhatsApp messages as and when available. The Cell has organized a National E-Quiz on General Studies and Current Affairs on 18th July, 2020 where 2686 job aspirants and students from more than 400 institutes from 27 States and Union Territories of India have participated.

On 28th April, 2021 a webinar was organized by the placement cell on Career Options for Graduates with special focus to Banking Sector. Renowned professional training organization Mahendra Institute was the chief collaborator of that event. A total of 453 job aspirants from 73 different institutes covering 15 States and Union Territories of India have participated. This webinar was followed by a week long free of cost demo coaching class for banking job aspirants.

College library has a repository of competitive exam journals like Frontline, Kurukshetra, Yojana, Pratoyogita Darpan, Career 360, Civil Services chronicle, Achievers and several others which cater the needs of highly focused students and pass outs in all week days from 10 am to 5 pm.
North 24 Parganas is one of the most populous districts of India with a rich human resource, smooth and active functioning of the Placement Cell of the college is thus extremely significant. Catering a diverse career options prevailing in the present day is a challenging one

which is met by the dynamic students and members of the Career Counseling, Entry in Service and Placement Cell, Barasat Government College.
