About the department

Since its very inception as a degree college offering honours courses in various subjects, the Department of English has been able to carve out a distinct place in the academic horizon of this area. The morning section of the college, however, teaches the General course only. Because of its proximity to Kolkata and Salt Lake, many eminent teachers have, at various times, opted for posting in this college. The department can also boast of attracting quite a good number of students with excellent result in their higher secondary level examinations.
