Department of Political Science- Outreach Programme

The students of the department enthusiastically participate in the district level competition of Youth Parliament. In 2019, they participated in it, organized at West Bengal State University. They confidently performed in their best possible way and were highly appreciated for their performance. This competition helps our students to develop themselves as future nation-makers, gives them immense self-confidence and zeal to think for betterment of the society and to exchange views and ideas and to learn from other participants.

1. FILM SCREENING- The department arranges screening of films, having educational and democratic values, for the students. In the last three years we have screened for the students, “Gandhi”, “Chittagong”, and “Newton”.

2. ONLINE WALL MAGAZINE- Every year, the students make a wall magazine, entitled “Samajdarpan”. Even in times of pandemic, this tradition has been continued in the form of ‘online wall magazine’. In 2019, the theme of the wall magazine was Human Rights. In 2020, the themes were Human Trafficking, Child Labour, Right to Education, World politics in post-covid period.

3. INTERNATIONAL DEMOCRACY DAY- To commemorate the International Day of Democracy on 15th September, the students made a praiseworthy online wall magazine, entitled “Democracy Diary” in 2020. It reflects their thoughts, ideas and commitment to the ideals of democracy in human society.

4. Youth Parliament - The students enthusiastically participate in the district level competition of Youth Parliament. Last it was held in 2019 at West Bengal State University where they participated. This competition helps our students to develop themselves as future nation-makers, gives them immense self-confidence and zeal to work for betterment of the society.

5. STUDENTS’ WEBINAR- The department has the tradition of Students’ Seminar with the aim to inculcate in them analytical power, confidence and interest to study and present the subject matters of political science at broader level, outside the classroom. The department organized a Students’ Webinar, entitled, GLOBAL POLITICS AFTER COVID-19 on 12.08.2020. In this webinar, six of our students presented papers and one resource person (Sri.Kinshuk Nandi, Assistant Professor of Political Science, Taki Government College) was invited as a resource person.

  1. The department arranges screening of films, having educational and democratic values, for the students. In the last three years we have screened for the students, “Gandhi”, “Chittagong”, “Newton”. Besides, the teachers post in students’ whatsapp groups variety of short films that are relevant to the topics of the syllabus.
  2. Every year, the students of the department wonderfully and enthusiastically make wall magazine, entitled “Samajdarpan”. Even in times of pandemic, this tradition has been continued in the sense, the students have been able to carry it in the form of ‘online wall magazine’.
